Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Seems OK

bbbb 12/26/2023

I upgraded to Whirlpool after 2 Amana freezers (same size) were defective and had to be destroyed. This one seems to be OK, but does not seal tightly after closing the lid. No frost has accumulated, though, as happened with the first two I received.

Decent freezer for the money - but will it last?

HandyMom 11/29/2023

Took delivery of this freezer early this month. The size is pretty convenient and I like that the baskets are wire rather than plastic. It has a hard top, which I appreciate. It's not going to dent when you set things down on it (my Kenmore did). The indicator lights on the front are also really useful. The compressor is slightly noisier than I had hoped - audible from outside of our pantry, but only a bit. There is no interior light in this size, which is a pity. Ultimately, what I want to see is that it lasts 18 years like my Kenmore did. The Kenmore was actually still running fine, but the case was getting rusty and the indicator light was failing.

Great features!

Forest 11/11/2023

Recently purchased this freezer because it is the right size (not too big, not too small), you can use it as a freezer or refrigerator (love having options), it has drains to keep defrosting mess down, it has two metal baskets and it's made by a well-known dependable brand, Whirlpool. So far everything is as advertised! =)

Quiet and good layout

Jaffy23 12/12/2022

Replaced a 15 year old chest freezer, and you can really tell the difference. It's quieter and takes up less space for the space capacity. I'm really impressed with how easily the lid lifts and stays in place. There's some great storage inside. The raised space makes it easy to stack smaller boxes for easy viewing. The two storage baskets slide with ease and are pretty big.

Just what we needed!

Danny 11/12/2022

We bought Our freezer about two months ago. The upright that we had just died On us. We debated about getting another up-right, but decided to go with a smaller chest freezer. It was a wise decision. Because of the baskets and the shelf, we are able to keep things organized.

Perfect for meal prep and storage

131 granny 11/4/2022

We purchased this freezer in early October. The purpose was to cook ahead for family gatherings this holiday season. I have pre-planned meals and am ahead. I was considering a freezer for a few months. I grow veggies and pick seasonal fruits. This freezer will be heavily used. I also will make soups to pull for a quick meal in the colder months. I am happy with this purchase.

The GREAT white box !

Armadillojoe 10/27/2022

We decided to replace our 5 cubic ft with a larger model. We chose Whirlpool 9 cu ft for dependability. It has been a great addition for freezer storage. It runs very quiet. I would love a longer cord. The shelving helps with smaller items. We are glad to have spent the extra $$ instead of buying a cheap model.

Impressive capacity for 9 cubic feet.

ThelmaDee 10/15/2022

Having an appliance that can be either a freezer or a refrigerator was appealing to me and the 9 cubic feet model meant that it was small enough to fit in my kitchen (no trips out to the garage). I made this purchase as an extra refrigerator because I never have enough space in my main refrigerator when company comes. With the holidays approaching I know I made the perfect decision. It maintains an even temperature once I got the settings correct. I'm really happy with the ability to store items that need to be kept cold but not used on a daily basis, leaving the main refrigerator much roomier and easier to access.

First Whirlpool Freezer - High Standard to Meet

SB2754 10/14/2022

First Whirlpool freezer for me. Have had it for just over a month and it seems to run well. It is quiet and maintains a constant temperature (use a thermometer to monitor so I can mark the right setting location for my desired temperature). It is replacing a smaller commercial freezer that was surpassing 25 years of service (and was still going strong), but we were concerned it was nearing end of life and didn't want to risk failure while we were out of town and having everything inside spoiling. If I have one complaint, it is that the freezer was advertised with a high temperature "warning" feature. I expected an audible alarm. It is merely a red light. Unless you are looking at it each day, you would miss the opportunity to salvage frozen food should the unit fail. Maybe I misread the adverisement, but having an audible signal would be better. Looking at an aftermarket alarm. Overall, I would state that I am satisfied with initial quality. Check back in 15 to 20 years and see if it is as good as my last freezer.

Features misleading on site

roger 8/4/2022

Got this home to find out that no lock is included even though the features clearly state that a lock with key are included. Run around from Whirlpool and support claim the feature is not available in model so the web site is deceptive. Bad experience over all and the product is going back. Last Whirlpool I'll consider.
