Shelf is made of chipboard

Who would think to use wood chipboard in such a wet location?? The shelf is covered on all sides by a thin laminated plastic, but once any moisture gats at it, the plastice delamnates, the chipboard swells and starts to crumble. Whoever chose chipboard should be fired. Customer support says they are working on a replacement but can't say when that will be available.

Wood delaminates

Accesory is fitted between drying machine and washing machine. Some drops of water falls down and enters inside the plastic-wood joint, delaminating it.
